Dear Parents,
Welcome back to a new school year at California Avenue School “ The happiest place to learn”.
I am looking forward to working with you and your children as their functional skills classroom teacher.
Our preschool functional skills class at California Avenue school provides the following opportunities for students:
| Additional social skills practice. |
| Additional practice of communication skills including peer interaction skills as well as independent functional language skills. |
| Activities based on student’s IEP Goals related to social skills, communication and self help skills. |
| Activities including but not limited to facilitated play such as: interactive play (floor, table top and outdoor),board games, gross motor games and dramatic play schemes. |
| Classroom responsibilities in the form of classroom jobs. |
| Practice on independent meal time and hygiene routines |
Please find attached our daily class schedule. (At 11:45 a.m. students join their preschool special day class teacher who also is their case manager.)
Please send snack and lunch in separate baggies or containers if possible and label each.
Please put child’s name on all personal items especially jackets.
Also please return hygiene items as soon as possible.
