Welcome
to Discrete Trial: A Behavioral Analysis Program
Your child is receiving support services from our Language and Behavior
Program. The methodology used is Applied Behavior Analysis or ABA.
The term ABA is commonly used
synonymously wit Discrete Trial.
ABA is proven by research to be effective with children with Autism.
Discrete Trail therapy is one methodology within ABA. We use a variety
of methodologies as part of our Language and Behavior Program. Some of
those include:
 |
Pivotal Response Training-PRT (Dr. Laura Schriebman)
|
 |
Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication
handicapped Children-TEACCH (Dr. Gary Mesibov/University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill)
|
 |
Social Stories (Carol Gray)
|
 |
Picture Exchange System-PECS (Dr. Andrew Bondy and Lori Frost)
|
 |
Floortime (Dr. Stanley Greenspan and Dr. Serena Wieder)
|
 |
Sensory Integration Techniques
|
Our program serves students on all tracks, Orange, Green, Blue and Gold.
We currently work with students from Preschool through elementary.
Direct services as well as consultation and aide support in classrooms are
available as identified on each child's IEP.
Our program benefits from ongoing support from Autism Partnership, a
non-public agency founded by Dr. Ron Leaf and Dr. John McEachin, who were on
the original Lovaas research project out of UCLA.
MONTHLY CALENDAR
Every month a calendar will be sent home. On the calendar will be
the time your child receives his/her therapy as well as the therapist working
with your child; our monthly parent education and support group
meetings; and individual clinic meetings.
PARENT EDUCATION AND SUPPORT GROUP MEETINGS
We offer once a month meetings at California Ave. School. These
meetings are usually on the third wednesday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. during the
Orange Track calendar. Child care is offered with reservations made by
the Monday before the scheduled meeting. Family and friends are welcome.
ILLNESS
In an attempt to make our classroom a healthy environment for all, please
DO NOT send your child to school sick. If your child has any of the
following, keep your child home:
