Pedagogical Research

Many higher-learning institutions and government agencies are starting to publicize pedagogical research on the internet in the hopes that teachers will be able to use this information to improve teaching in their class rooms. This site will help you find research results and theories on the cutting edge of education.

Key Words: the first two sites were found using the words pedagogical and research on Yahoo! which provided good sites but only two. The third site was found using reading and research. This search provided many more results but many were not relevant. I suggest using the word research in combination with a specific topic to provide a good list of relevant sites.

Sample Sites The following links will take you to sites that post scholarly research.

Pedagogical Quarterly of Cognitive Linguistics http://pqcl.indstate.edu

This "online publication of scholarship [provides] theory and research applicable to employing scientific discoveries in cognition and language."

The National Writing Project http://www-gse.berkeley.edu/research/NWP/nwp.html

"Through its extensive network of teachers, the National Writing Project seeks to promote exemplary instruction of writing in every classroom in America." A colloborative site, it is a great place to find ideas and research on teaching.

International Reading Association http://www.reading.org

"The International Reading Association seeks to promote high levels of literacy for all by improving the quality of reading instruction through studying the reading processes and teaching techniques..." Another colloborative effort to help teachers teach reading.
