Your child is enrolled in the Vista Unified School District, Preschool Speech/Language Program. We are part of California Avenue School. Our classrooms are located at the Mary Lou Clack Center which is located on the corner of, North Santa Fe and West California Avenue. We are just one block east of California Avenue School. When you arrive, please enter through the gate by the playground at the back of the building adjacent to the Newcomer's facility. We hope the following information will answer some of the questions you may have regarding your child’s program.

Directions:

From the North: Take Bobier Drive to North Santa Fe Avenue. Head south on North Santa Fe until you reach California Avenue. Turn right on California Avenue and we are the first building on the right.

From the South: Take Vista Way or Escondido Avenue to South Santa Fe Avenue. Head north until you reach California Avenue, Turn left on California Avenue and we are the first building on the right.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS

All Children receive therapy based on their individual needs. Groups may focus on phonology (articulation/speech clarity), language (building vocabulary, increasing sentence length, following directions, etc.) or both. Fluency therapy involves both child and parents.

PAPERWORK NEEDED BEFORE STARTING THERAPY

We need a current copy of your child’s immunizations, stamped by his/her physician and a copy of a current utility or phone bill to verify your address before your child can start in a program.

TELEPHONE CALLS: When we are working with children the answering machine will pick up and take messages. Please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible. In case of an emergency, please call the secretary at California Avenue School at 630-4870.

DISASTER PREPAREDNESS

As part of our disaster preparedness program we are asking parents to donate bottled water (gallon size) to be used at school in the case of an emergency.
